Estonia Grand Piano

piano text

When we were looking for a new piano, we discovered an unfamiliar brand from eastern Europe, called the “Estonia” piano. Estonia is the inheritor of a long tradition of fine instruments from this former Soviet republic, whose factories in the capital Talinn used to supply the great concert houses of Europe. We learned why this piano was equal to—or better than—some of the better known names, but at greatly reduced cost, as the new brand fought for market share in our country.
With generous gifts from our congregation and the Board of Memorials, we bought this beautiful instrument, now used regularly in our worship, and for the increasing number of artistic engagements we have enjoyed over the past few years. True, it’s a six-foot-three-inch Estonia, not a nine-foot Steinway, but in our small building, it has a true concert-hall sound!

Our Austin organ has seven ranks of pipes arranged and combined in such a way that its sound is perfect for our small building. We all enjoy the music and inspiration of this beautiful, classic instrument.

Our Fellowship Hall is bright and spacious . . . and adaptable to so many uses and events. We hold our coffee hour here after the Sunday Morning service, but it's been home to receptions, private parties, children's events, auctions, meetings, yoga, pilates, art shows, and even all decked out for formal dinners and black-tie affairs!

Our huge kitchen, health-department approved and complete with two stoves and two ovens, two sinks, good-sized fridge (more fridge and freezer space in the basement), a commercial dishwasher and plenty of counter space, makes catering events a breeze!

The Friendship Room is everyone's favorite. With its beautifully restored antiques, working fireplace, and soft lighting, it's always our first choice for small meetings and discussion groups. The women of the Women's Fellowship love setting up small candlelit dinners in here with a cozy fire. Brides and their bridesmaids find it the perfect place to "hide" and calm their nerves before their trip down the aisle.

If you name a room by its most prominent feature, you'll know why we call this the Bean Bag Room. It's actually one end of a larger, multi-purpose room that's as versatile as the adjacent Fellowship Hall. Kids love the beanbags and giant stuffed animals! Sunday School teachers like this room for reading to the kids or showing them a video presentation for their curriculum. You'll also find kids just "bouncing around" in here during coffee hour. With the beanbags and animals removed, the room has been put to good use for all manner of things from a dining room to an art gallery.

If the Friendship Room is a favorite among adults, guess who the big fans of this room are! Well, yes, the toddlers....but their parents love it even more! Safe and age-appropriate toys are available for little ones not yet ready for Sunday School. With a comfy couch and rocking chair, it's just right for baby care, too. We provide childcare during our Sunday service
